About Western Log Creations

Western Log Creations started because we had dead trees...
When our new house was built we had to take out a couple of trees. Then two more large trees died from the beetle infestation. Added to that were 25 trees that snapped off in the blizzard of 2003. Due to a reluctance to just throw them away, they were cut into 4 logs and stored behind the garage. A couple were split with a chain saw to make half log benches. By working with a neighbor with a sawmill the rest were cut into 2” thick slabs to make slab benches. Still reluctant to throw away the cutoffs, a number of smaller products were developed such as candle holders, wall hooks, small mirrors, boxes, etc.

The log pile continues to be replenished by trees that are already dead or had to be removed for other reasons. These are trees that would have either gone into a landfill or left lying on the ground as fuel for forest fires. This is how Western Log Creations participates in a new “Green” industry.

However, these efforts are not strictly to help the forest or the landfills; we really enjoy what were doing. Its invigorating to be able to look at a log or branch and picture its real potential to enhance your home with something both decorative and useful. The “Green” portion of this program just makes it that much more satisfying.
